This
week its about Jamee Uaendere popularly known as “Jblack”. This
talented young energetic rapper, who has worked with artists such as
from Eclipse, Bertholdt, WillyG, Paradox, KK, Lil D, Djay, Stitch, Mc
Ray, D.I.N.O, Sean K, Big Ben, Ponti and Jericho, is making his way
to the top and not leaving any stones unturned.
“I
started out rapping when I was about 14 years, grade 8 to be exact…
we were a clique of about 5 guys ( including KK ) who just used to
love rapping along to international HipHop songs. so it started as we
got inspired by groups such as G-Unit, D12 at the time, wrote lyrics
and put our emotions on songs. So we started out writing, recording
over instrumentals on an MP3 player, that has bad sound quality at
the time, but it just felt good hearing ourselves over a beat. Then
about 2 to 3 years after that we recorded our first songs, and the
rest, dare I say is history.” He explains.
The
former Windhoek High School student ,who has been in the industry for
about 4 years now, released his début album 'My Time' in June 2011
says he is looking forward to releasing his next album “Black By
Popular Demand”, which he refers to as “a classic” later this
year. “I hope to gain Southern African recognition, that is my
current goal. International success will follow” he adds.
He
also says the one people overlook about is the fact that he is a nice
guy, down to earth and people never realize that. He adds that his
music is about him, his life and experiences, he speaks for himself
and hopes people relate to his story. His main message in his new
album for his fans and audience at large is “you can achieve
anything, any dream, and you never have to compromise who you are”
He
is an independent artist, which means he isn't signed to any record
label at the moment.“I believe independent hustle is much more
rewarding, but the day will come where I might sign. It just has to
be the right situation for me, and a big a** cheque, will of course
go along way to help that persuasion”
When
asked what sets him apart from others he replied “No other artist
lived my life, so my life will always sound different through my
music. You can tell it’s a Jblack song, there's just something I
repeatedly talk about. no hints just yet”
“I
have a simple dream for us, we should gain worldwide recognition. I
play a part in the growth, I believe I'm at the forefront of the new
school cats, what we do now will go along way into shaping the next
10 years.” he says, about the HipHop Industry.
“Be
you, be yourself at all times. A lot of people say it, but they don’t
really do it, so be You, there is no one who can be better than you
at that”
The
title of his first song he said “ 'to the top' how could I forget?
That is where I am going” he concludes.
