What/who
inspires you?
My
parents are a starter, they are so supportive, it makes me so emotional when I
think of how blessed I am to have them. It is the thought of never
disappointing them that keeps me going.
Dr
Josephine Oluwafunmilayo Omo Dukiya, she is simply a one in a million lady.
What
is the greatest lesson you have learnt from your role models thus far?
I
have learnt from my Father that nothing in life is impossible and nothing in
life is insignificant either, it is all about what you make of it.
Dr
Josephine taught me that everything has consequences, be it now or later hence
taking short cuts in life is never a good idea.
How
did you manage all the pressure?
Well,
I believe things will always work out and if they don’t then there is always a
next time. Therefore I don’t really stress about how much pressure I’m under.
This was also made easier by the fact that I am last minute person who takes
things as they came thus I strive well under pressure.
What
was the best habit you have that really helped you on your journey?
Being
care free but also knowing when to start and when to stop as well as treating
all these as a hobby.
Did
you ever feel like giving up? How did you overcome that feeling?
Yes
I did. Well with Education is it all started as a joke and the aim was always
to quit, but then my dad was super excited that I finally decided to do
education so the thought of disappointing him and all the money wasted kept me
going and besides I wasn’t failing so more reason to continue.
I
also overcame the feeling by talking to people about it, mainly my little
sister Penehafo, my friends Elize Hiyolwa, Kosmas Petrus, Jona Musheko or
Erasmus Wayne Awaseb. Words of encouragement always help.
What’s next for you?
Well
I am currently pursuing my Masters of Arts in English language and linguistics
at Rhodes University in South Africa. We will see how it goes.
I
just want to congratulate you once again, Words of advice to others out there
wanting to follow your footsteps or pursue a career like yours?
As
teachers we have a huge impact on all our learners and society at large. I am
sure that most of us all have that 1 teacher who played a major role in some if
not most of our lives’ decisions. Look up to that and be that or better than
that. Be the change you want to see and inspire someone.
What
was the best advice you received and from whom?
Every
advice I get from my brother, Dr Josephine and my Dad is tops.
